A swarm of 49ers will descend on Playa de Los Algodones, Mexico on the Sea of Cortez March 14th to battle it out for the class?s world championship. Hosted by Club Med Sonora Bay, the event currently has 56 entrants from 21 countries. Among the competitors are three teams representing the US, including Olympic Team members Jonathan and Charlie McKee of Seattle, WA. Dalton Bergan and Patrick Whitmarsh are the two other American skippers. Competition is expected to be feverish as many of the teams competing will use this regatta to tune-up for the Sydney Olympic Games in September.
