A high seas chase 90 miles southwest of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba resulted in the U.S. Coast Guard seizing 3,360 pounds of marijuana. The Coast Guard recovered 56 bales of marijuana that had been dumped into the ocean from a 37-foot speedboat. A Coast Guard helicopter was launched to pursue the smugglers, who changed their course and proceeded south toward Jamaica. Eventually the boat stopped and a law enforcement team from a U.S.C.G cutter boarded the vessel. Four men, three claiming British nationality and one claiming to be Jamaican, were taken into custody and the contraband was turned over to U.S. Custom?s agents.
