Greenwich Warrior crossed the finish line in the MTN Cape to Rio race after an unofficial time of 16 days and 30 minutes to make the crossing, bettering the last time the boat crossed in the 1996 race by 14 hours. Skipper Phil Gutsche heaped praise on his sponsors, crew, and skipper who he said worked well together in difficult weather conditions. The boat had the wind from forward of the beam for approximately 70 percent of the time. Provisioning was reported as near perfect as the boat finished with half a packet of dried fruit, some salami, and a few tea bags to spare. Maxtech Wizard had approximately 100 miles to go to Rio. Currently lying in fourth position on handicap, Maxtech Wizard is considered still a threat.
