Phillipe Monnet continues his bid to sail single-handed around the world against the prevailing winds in his Open 60? UUNET. A windless area off Uruguay has brought a dip in morale as UUNET covered a mere two miles through the night as the spinnaker sagged in the water and the boat drifted off course. The calm period has allowed Monnet to re-check the boat?s rigging and other systems while he waits for the wind. Forecasts have Monnet in a wide area of light winds for the next two days, which could cause him to loose two or three days off his pace to best the 161-day record held by Mike Golding.
