In his single-handed record attempt to circumnavigate the globe against the prevailing winds, Frenchman Philippe Monnett has found wind after three days of near drifting. The most recent reports had the Open 60? UUNET moving steadily towards Cape Horn at eight knots. After a month of sailing, Monnett is still 659-miles ahead of record holder Mike Golding?s pace and has covered 120 miles over the last 24 hours. With 1,200-miles to go to Cape Horn and the wind stabilizing in for the next two days, Monnett expects to make the famed promontory by Monday or Tuesday.
