Skipper Roman Paszke and his crew of six aboard the 85-foot Polpharma-Warta are making last-minute preparations in Cadiz, Spain as they await the proper weather window to attempt an east-west trans-Atlantic run to San Salvador in the Bahamas. Paszke and his crew are analyzing information from Duetscher Wetterdienst (the German national meteorological service commissioned to work with the sailors), and they believe that opportunity may present itself today (February 8).
For the crew of Polpharma-Warta (formerly Bruno Peyron?s Explorer), tackling the "Discovery Route" once used by Christopher Columbus means credibility and recognition as the first team to officially qualify for The Race, which is scheduled to start from Barcelona, Spain on December 31. According to sources, the Polish team must not take more than 15 and a half days in order to qualify.
