San Diego sailmaker and noted racer Mark Reynolds announced recently that he had decided to change labels and would be aligning his sail loft with Quantum Sail Design Group. A 20-year veteran in the business, Reynolds decided to leave the Sobstad organization and join the Annapolis-based Quantum Group in order to expand his customer base, particularly in the big boat arena.

Reynolds is currently competing in the Bacardi Cup in Miami and was unavailable for comment, but Tad Hutchins at Quantum headquarters in Annapolis, MD confirmed the announcement. According to Hutchins, Quantum now has almost 50 locations in 14 countries, allowing the company to live up to its marketing tag line: ?so far, so fast.? Founded in 1996, Quantum added three new lofts in Europe (UK, Germany, and Spain) last summer and is currently negotiating with potential affiliates in Latin America.
